I’ve spent a lot of time trying out new products to bring you the best version of the Divorce Lawyer Life. I never tried blogging before so it has been a lot of trial and error. And, to be honest, I’m still learning. But that’s what makes it fun right? Thinking about starting a blog? I recommend that you check these resources out!
While I discuss some of these resources in my blog posts and on my Pinterest page, I thought it would be helpful to have them all on one page so you can refer back to it as needed. This way you won’t have to remember exactly which article you found it in.
BluChic
The layout of your website is your first impression to your readers. I don’t know about you, but if I land on a website that looks dated and messy, I’m less likely to want to look around or trust the information that I am getting from the author. Do you agree? So, I spent a lot of time researching website templates to make sure that when you got to the Divorce Lawyer Life, it was easy for you to navigate and looked professional. While there are some free templates out there, I couldn’t find one that was exactly what I wanted. And, what good is a website if you can’t find what you are looking for?
So in my research I came upon the website templates offered by BluChic. After reviewing a bunch I decided on the Paisley theme and I love it! I think it’s a perfect theme for bloggers and was a great price given how professional it looks. They have a ton of other themes too, so you can shop around and find the best one for you.
In addition to website templates, I’m also using their template for my Just Separated from Your Spouse Checklist as well as my Essential Divorce Checklist. I wouldn’t have been able to create those offerings without them. SO if you are looking to create checklists of other handouts, they can help you with those too. Seriously, don’t spend hours trying to do it yourself. If I had tried I would have wasted a tone of time and they still would have looked terrible.
If you are interested in starting a website, I really suggest checking BluChic out. They have a ton of FREE resources to help you set up your new site, including a free course which gives you a step by step guide on how to start your site. They really have been instrumental in my set up of the Divorce Lawyer Life and I couldn’t recommend them more if I tried!
Tailwind
I use Tailwind to schedule all my Pinterest and Instagram posts. It is easy to use and a real time saver. Plus it can track how your posts are doing so you can modify your social media strategy if needed. I started by using the free version and quickly learned that I can’t work a full time job and do this site without the paid version (Tailwind Plus). Seriously, I couldn’t run this blog without it. Tailwind is currently running a special for $15 off Tailwind Plus. Click here to use my referral code to get the deal.
Hostgator
If this website is my car, then Hostgator is the highway. While there are a lot of website hosting companies out there, I have found Hostgator to be user-friendly and perfect for a blogger just starting out. They have a lot of different plans and it works well with WordPress sites (what I use and you are currently reading).
You can purchase a domain name for as little as $4.99 for the year and their hosting plans start at $2.75 per month! Right now they are offering a special bundle to my readers so that you can purchase your domain name, hosting, and website for as low as $3.00 per month. If you want to start your own blog, now is the time to do it!
WordPress
If Hostgator is the highway, then WordPress is the model of the car I’m driving. Before I started this blog, I did a lot of research. WordPress was, by far and away, the most recommended blog creator. It costs me about $3.50 per month, which includes backup and security features. WordPress also offers free templates and it is compatible with many of the website templates that are available for purchase.
Canva
Want to know how I get all these great stock photos for my articles or create professional looking Pins and Instagram posts? Canva. Canva is a must for marketing your blog. You can create pretty much any kind of social media post, as well as letterhead, menus, and much more. The photos are great and there are templates for pretty much any kind of business. While there is a limited free option, I use the paid version, which provides you access to all the photos and templates. If you want to get into online marketing you need to get this.
